Alzheimers Disease - Part II
Alzheimer's disease is a brain disorder which is named after Alois Alzheimer, a German physician; he is the first one who described the disease in 1906.
Today, Alzheimer's disease has affected more than five million Americans. This disease destroys cells of the brain, which cause problems in thinking, behavior and memory. This is fatal disease that gets worse as it progresses. It affects the daily activities of an individual which may include work and social activities.
Alzheimer's disease is the common type of dementia, a general term which pertains to memory loss and loss of capacity to do other things. Though vascular dementia, this is caused by decrease in flow of bad to other parts of the brain while in Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia along with Alzheimer’s occurs together.
At present, it is considered as the sixth leading cause of deaths in the U.S as there is no known cure in Alzheimer’s disease but there are available treatments that are available for the symptoms. Other researches are being made as to find prevention and cure for this disease.
